If you’re considering renovating your house or building a new single/double storey home, you will need to comply with certain regulatory requirements and the paperwork can go on forever.
Authorities consider compliance with planning and construction requirements while assessing an application for approval. They also assess the degree to which your project may affect the environment and the surrounding properties.
This system has two stages – Development Application and Construction Certificate, commonly known as DA and CC. When you use the local Council system, you need both DA and CC approved before beginning construction.
This system, commonly known as Complying Development, is a single-step process. After the application is approved, you will receive a Complying Development Certificate (CDC). You can begin construction after you obtain the CDC.
In the DA process, the local Council may allow you an opportunity to discuss modifications of some rules. This flexibility is allowed if the proposal you present is reasonable and meets the Council’s objectives.
The CDC process is non-negotiable. Your application will not be approved if you don’t comply with all requirements for a CDC.
